Good information

I got this book hoping to learn more information on the Pineal Gland. My dad, both of my grandparents, and previous generations before that, were born with multiple gifts. My Little brother and I can usually feel and see much of the same things at times. Unfortunately I never harnessed or evolved my abilities because at a young tender age I was constantly being attacked by not so great entities. It was all bad. So for such a long time, I've just shut it all off. A good chunk of these abilities stuck with me though. At times a few known dead appear in my dreams, at times I see more of other things like warnings about danger, or if say I need to adjust something about myself. When I'm depressed or feel emotionally drained, I would say that it's difficult for me to see things clearly. Reading people's emotions especially the ones that are a bit more negative is something I recently acquired. The hardest thing for me ever since I started to harness more and more these abilities at the present moment is that one can now see the reality for what it really is, and in the process has allowed me to see many things I never wanted to accept or the fact I had to say good bye to people that were no longer doing me any good in my life especially with friends.

I've also developed a healthier spiritual part of me. I have a much better appreciation of so many people as well as for those that have passed on. I still need a lot to work on but so far it seems amazing. I don't regret ignoring this when I was a kid as I just wasn't ready for it. But I feel a bit more ready now. It's helped me understand people a lot more but also given me a whole new perception to my existence. It's true. Mia Rose is correct. You need to have patience. It's almost like waiting to catch a fish. When I get a good vision, I have to make myself aware of it so that I can explore more the dream. And when I wake up, I do the research. Some are more blunt and obvious. Others need a bit more work and deciphering. I recommend this book for those curious, the novices, or as a reference. As far as the tingling sensations, I've learned to pay attention to those as it may mean there's a spirit present ready to communicate or a sense I need to prepared to know what ability to use and get ready for what's coming. No matter how much my ability grows, I want to remain humble about it and not ever take advantage of people� .

Great book for research on The Third Eye

I watch a lot of videos on the the topic of manifesting, law of attraction and a few times the term Third Eye was mentioned. I am totally green on subject and decided to do research and got this book. This book is well written. The subject is a bit complicated for me so I will have to read this book a few times before I can really absorb the content. This is a good book to start your research on the Third Eye.

Awesome

Melissa does an awesome job with this part of the story! The emotions filling me while reading this kept me glued to the pages!

Anna is the same strong, stubborn, hard-headed, outgoing, confident, beautiful, but slightly insecure woman. I still love her and want her as a friend! The connection with her is just made stronger in this portion of her story.

At the end of the last book I found myself a little disappointed and mad at Bentley. But he has won his way back into my heart in this segment of their relationship. I love his confident yet insecure approach to the relationship and always his dirty talking bad boy ways!

I absolutely love Lo and even Andrea has brought herself up in my opinion! Can't wait to start the next part.

Wow..just Wow and just when you think you are falling for Bentley Reed..bam he makes you wanna throat punch him. However he does redeem himself, as the fabulous Melissa Toppen puts it. "He can't be perfect all the time."

Anna is trying to open up and accept the feelings that she is feeling for Bentley.

Bentley is head over heels in love with Anna A.K.A. Logan. One night when he thinks she is going behind his back for information could change things for Bentley and Anna.
This book makes you feel all the emotions. Happy, Sadness, you will cry laugh and wanna throw your kindle. Very well written. You will love You and I Together.

Charles B. Fleddermann is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. All of his degrees are in electrical engineering: his Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, and the Master's and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prof. Fleddermann developed an engineering ethics course for his department in response to the ABET requirement to incorporate ethics topics into the undergraduate engineering curriculum. Engineering Ethics was written as a vehicle for presenting ethical theory, analysis, and problem solving to engineering undergraduates in a concise and readily accessible way.

Good, solid book on an important subject !!

Very much enjoyed the book and found myself thinking I was glad to have stumbled into it. I don't think I agreed in all cases with his judgments, but I may have been the problem there.

Only criticism: much of his instruction was built around the very large, public case histories. The real challenge to engineering ethics are those that arise from the smaller, everyday challenges in workplace culture, personal habits of practice, etc. Would have liked a little more emphasis here.

A must have book for anyone fascinated by History

I love this book. It starts with a chapter titled Our Remote Ancestors about how humans evolved and ends with a chapter titled Shrinking World about developments in communication and technology and how they have changed the world. The book is big. 12 x 10.5 x 1.75. It is full of pictures. This book reminds me of the wonderful travel guide books that DK publishes. History is a guidebook to the history of the human race. There are hundreds of wonderful pictures, maps, timelines and charts. This is a book that viscerally appeals to me. Since it arrived I have enjoyed opening it and browsing at every opportunity.

The other thing that I love about this book is that it allows me to find answers to the random historical questions that often come up when I am traveling, reading the newspaper or watching historical fiction on TV. I have three examples of this.

A recent visit to the ancient bristle cone pines made me want to understand more about ancient civilizations and human migrations. History: The Definitive Visual Guide allowed me to satisfy my curiosity.

History: The Definitive Visual Guide helps me to understand the historical backgrounds of the presidential biographies I have been reading.

A waitress recently told us she was from Moldova. I knew almost nothing about Moldova. One of the nice features of History: The Definitive Visual Guide is that it has a 110 page section that traces the individual histories of the world's 193 countries. When we got home I read up on the history of Moldova.

In my opinion History: The Definitive Visual Guide is a must have for anyone who is fascinated by history. I highly recommend this book. It would make a great Christmas present!

Beautiful book, useful resource, fun for the whole family

DK does for history what it has previously done for the universe, the earth, animals, and humans in gorgeously-illustrated large-format "visual guides" entitled, logically enough, "Universe," "Earth," "Animal," and "Human." Each book in the series is as comprehensive as possible, though of course none of them can be as endlessly expansive as the enormous subjects they tackle. But they do a wonderful job of categorizing knowledge and related fields, including copious detail, and inspiring curiosity and wonder.

"History" will not replace standard textbooks on specific historical eras or regions of the world, but it serves as an excellent general introduction, particularly for those who might otherwise be turned off by the subject of history. It starts with the origin of our species, its spread throughout the globe, and prehistoric developments that ensured our survival. Early and classical civilzations are covered next, followed by the Dark and Middle Ages, the Renaissance, Reformation, and Enlightenment, and finally the Industrial Revolution and the Modern Age. A lengthy appendix concludes the book with brief timelines for all of the world's nations.

Numerous maps, links, and period documents are included. There are special two-page features on such leaders as Rameses II, Alexander, Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Ganghis Khan, Elizabeth I, Louis XIV, Napoleon, Lincoln, Victoria, Stalin, Hitler, and JFK, along with photo features on Egyptian, Celtic, Islamic, and Native Amerian artifacts, personalities like Columbus, Leonardo, Marx, and Einstein, decisive events like the Battle of Stalingrad, D-Day, the bombing of Hiroshima, 9/11, and many others. About the Author
Jack Drury is Associate Professor and Director of Wilderness Recreation Leadership at North Country Community College, a unit of the State University of New York (SUNY) in Saranac Lake, New York. He is a WEA instructor having taught WEA NSP courses annually since 1979. He hold a B.S. in recreation education from SUNY Cortland and a M.S. in education administration from SUNY, Plattsburgh. Bruce Bonney has been teaching public high school social studies as Morrisville-Eaton Central School in Morrisville, New York for the past 22 years. A WEA instructor, Bruce is also owner and operator of Wilderness Education Services which contracts with public schools for wilderness education training. Bruce received his B.A. from Colgate University and his M.S. In history form Syracuse University. He is also an adjunct professor for North Country Community College.

The second edition of The Backcountry Classroom was a tremendous undertaking and we think you will like the results. There are eight additional chapters; Collaboration, Crisis Management, Groups: Orienting and Monitoring, Interpretation of the Natural and Cultural Environments, Knots, GPS, Rock Climbing: Leadership considerations for Top Roping, and Travel Technique: Canoeing and Sea Kayaking. There are also over 75 new tables and illustrations.

We have been conducting workshops focusing on the 2nd edition of the book throughout the country and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The chapter that has generated the most excitement is the Teaching and Learning chapter. Here, we engage in an extended discussion of our current thinking about the characteristics of high quality teaching and the role that teachers play as architects of high powered learning experiences - both in and out of doors. In this chapter we also introduce you to S.P.E.C. (Student-Centered, Problem-based, Experiential, and Collaborative) the short-hand acronym we use to remind us of the fundamental attributes of our approach. Throughout this book, you'll see that we've appended "challenges" to various lessons that we hope will serve as useful models to those who want to try out some aspect of our SPEC methodology.

The only negative feedback we have received is that the book is too damn big! We accept responsibility for that and actually have a few suggestions if you want to take the book into the field. I have taken a copy to my local printer and had him trim the binding off and trim the sides making sure that he didn't trim the page numbers or graphics. It did two things. It has made the entire book lighter and smaller but more importantly in my mind it allows me to take just the chapters I want out into the field. This allows me to lighten my pack even more. He also put holes in the book so I can put it in a binder if I want or use loose-rings to hold the book/chapters together. I'm sure you can do the same thing at little or no cost if you plan on taking the book into the field. If you do take the book in the field please share what creative steps you take to make it lighter.

Critique of The Backcountry Classroom

This book is a good beginner's guide to the topics covered by the WEA's 18 point curriculum. It is easy to read, provides a simple structure for instruction of the lessons, and provide tips for implementing the instructional content, appropriate times for such, and extended activities. A couple of problems abound with this book and its content. Many times, the information that one would expect to find in this book is omitted. It leaves the reader with more questions than answers, forcing them to look elsewhere for, what in many cases is, pertinent information. It provides a general structure, but the subject matter is consistently lacking insight. As an instructional guide, it is mediocre. If not used as part of a WEA course, but rather a stand alone resource, it could benefit from more adherence to instructional design principles. It is somewhat confusing, at times, as to the type of content that is being covered. It follows well the WEA pedagogy of inform, demonstrate, and provide practice. An example of the short comings of this book can be viewed by a review of Chapter 26, Food Identification. The title leads one to believe his is going to gain insight into the ways to use sensory information to identify food he has in his food stuff sack, within his pack. However, only one small outline heading is devoted to such, and it only touches on such as a corollary item. Anyone who has ever mistakenly used brownie mix, instead of beans, or the like, has understood well the need to know how to use the various senses to identify food, without labeling. Additionally, using labels does not always end up being practical. As trips progress, people like to reorganize food into smaller or different bags, to maximize pack space. The field isn't the place to spend valuable instructional time on relabeling food. The rationale for food identification, suggestions for using memory tactics based on sensory information was omitted, yet was necessary. Many similar omissions can be found in other chapters. The book is compact, thereby making it easy to carry along on a teaching expedition, and provides a brief refresher to those who have previously acquired the knowledge in its full complexity and only need a job aid, and is consistent in its chapter format.

Very Useful for Backpackers

This book is amazing. It is the second edition and it has been compiled by professionals in the recreation field that know what is needed for a great backpacking experience. The book is recommendations from their personal experiences and it is very informative and helpful if you are backpacking alone or teaching others about backpacking. I would recommend this to anyone and I strongly encourage all my backpacking participants to get this for our backpacking trips.

The numbers say it all. This is novel number 47. Over 500 million Danielle Steel novels have been sold the world over. The market for Dating Game is described by her publisher as 'millions of loyal fans'. It seems safe to conclude, then, that the new novel by Danielle Steel does not represent a radical new departure for the author. She has not discovered chick-lit or cyberpunk. Dating Game is not an experimental novel, except in the sense that it is always an interesting experiment testing whether you can produce the same result with the same formula. Condensed version? Thrust into the world of contemporary dating by an unexpected divorce, Paris Armstrong eventually triumphs through adversity. Not to all tastes, but 'millions of loyal fans' evidently disagree.

Bravo! One of Danielle Steel's Best.

This is by far my favorite of Danielle Steel's novels. The character development is exquisite. Totally believable. She takes her time telling the story in this unabridged edition, and if you are listening to this story for the first time, this is the version I would highly recommend. I love the way the main character thinks things through, logically and thoroughly. Even as a fictitious character, she serves as an inspiration to women. I still think she should have clocked the "other woman" over the head with the punch bowl at her daughter's wedding, but she's so likable I can forgive her diplomacy. If you are a fan of Ms. Steel, you will love this book.

Three and a half stars please

Paris Armstrong is the perfect wife and mother of two grown children. She lives in a beautiful house in Greenwich, Connecticut. Her perfect world is shattered when her husband of twenty-four years, Peter, announces after a dinner party that he is leaving her for another woman. One who is barely older than their daughter. Paris is distraught to say the least and tries to pick up the pieces and move on with her life. Part of this process includes her moving to the West Coast and finding a job. There she meets Bixby Mason, party planner extraordinaire! She becomes friends with Bixby and through his encouragement decides to get back into the "dating game".
This book was an OK read. I felt sorry for Paris at first when Peter dumped her and thought he was a jerk. It was good to know that Danielle Steel could still write about people and pull the proper emotion out of me. I quickly became bored though when she moved to California and started dating. Her dates were funny but they all seemed the same. The storyline seemed to me to get stuck halfway through the book. It was like Danielle Steel got Paris to California and then didn't know what to do with her. The direction of the book appeared to be going nowhere fast.
I am getting a little tired of reading about women who are treated badly by their husbands and that is what the last few Steel novels have been. It also seems to me as if she's bringing in the same quirky characters but with different names, example: Bixby Mason. I loved this character, he definitely added entertainment to the story, but wasn't he in a previous novel but with a different name? Ms. Steel's characters all seem to be the same anymore.
I am beginning to wonder if Ms. Steel hasn't run out of ideas. After 50+ books maybe she is. I see she is due to have another book released this year. Hopefully it will be better. Although Dating Game was a somewhat enjoyable read I still prefer her earlier works. They are much more entertaining and worthy of the title "bestseller".

Years ago I was enthralled with Danielle Steel, after all, everyone dreams of a love story, even with the drama. However, I grew tired of the same descriptions of the characters, repeated storylines interwoven. I stopped reading her books. Then I saw this one, read the online reviews, and excitedly purchased it. I wish I could say I loved it. After being in the dating world forever, I certainly laughed at some of her awful dates, but it feels almost insulting to have every paragraph repeat the one before, or to repeat what the character is thinking a page later, only with different words. I wish I had loved it, I just was frustrated, and three-quarters of the way through, I jumped to the end.
