About the Author

Paul Harvey Wallace was a Professor in the Criminology Department, California State University, Fresno.  He served as chair of the department of criminology.  During his tenure as Chair, the departments embarked on a number of innovative programs.  He was the Interim Associate Dean for the College of Social Sciences at California State University, Fresno from 2003 to 2005.

Professor Wallace received a Jurist Doctorate Degree from California Western School of Law, an MPA from Golden Gate University and a BS in Criminology from California State University, Fresno.
He was considered a subject matter expert by the U.S. Department of Justice in Family Violence and Victimology.  He is the author or co-author of nine college tests and has published in a number of referred and scholarly journals as well as presented his research at a variety of international and national conferences.  Professor Wallace is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of California and his professional experience includes appointment as the City Attorney of the City of Fresno, service as the County Counsel for the County of Butte, private practice in a media law firm and experience as a Deputy District Attorney in San Diego, California.

In 2008, the Northern California Mock Trial Regional were renamed the Harvey Wallace Northern California Mock Trial Regional in memory of Harvey Wallace.

Cliff Roberson LLM, Ph.D is an Emeritus Professor at Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas. Until recently, he was managing editor of the international journal, Police Practices and Research and prior to that was Editor in Chief of the Professional Issues in Criminal Justice Journal. Cliff/s prior academic assignments include Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Arkansas Tech University; Dean, School of Arts and Sciences, University of Houston, Victoria; Director of Programs, National College of District Attorneys, and Director, Justice Center, California State University, Fresno.

Dr. Roberson’s non-academic experience includes U.S. Marine Corps service as an infantry officer, trial and defense counsel and military judge as a marine judge advocate; and Director of the Military Law Branch, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps. Other legal employment experiences include Trial Supervisor, Office of State Counsel for Offenders, Texas Board of Criminal Justice and judge pro-tem in the California courts. Educational background includes: Ph.D. in Human Behavior, U.S. International University; L.L.M., in Criminal Law, Criminology, and Psychiatry, George Washington University; J.D. American University; B.A. in Political Science, University of Missouri; and one year of post-graduate study at the University of Virginia School of Law.
In 2009, a research study conducted by a group of Professors from Sam Houston State University determined that Cliff Roberson was the leading criminal justice author in the United States based on his publications and their relevance to the profession [See Southwest Journal of Criminal Justice, Vol. 6, issue 1, 2009]. He has authored or co-authored over 50 books and texts.

Good and relevant content

While this book has good/relevant information there are so many typos in the book that it's annoying. Especially because it's expensive even for a used copy. My students don't like this book either, so I am trying to find an alternative

Needs a Proper Editor

I really have a hard time, at graduate level, to read books specific to academia, that don't have proper editing. Between spelling errors, grammatical errors and just subject flow and overall organization, I struggled with this book.

ennifer Dawson grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from DePaul University with a degree in psychology. She met her husband at the public library while they were studying. To this day she still maintains she was NOT checking him out. Now, over twenty years later they’re married living in a suburb right outside of Chicago with two awesome kids and a crazy dog. Despite going through a light FM, poem writing phase in high school, Jennifer never grew up wanting to be a writer (she had more practical aspirations of being an international super spy). Then one day, suffering from boredom and disgruntled with a book she’d been reading, she decided to put pen to paper. The rest, as they say, is history. These days Jennifer can be found sitting behind her computer writing her next novel, chasing after her kids, keeping an ever watchful eye on her ever growing to-do list, and NOT checking out her husband.

Woah. Crave made me crave more. Made me crave answers. Made me crave resolution and healing and justice and a happily ever after. My first book by Ms. Dawson was like finding a diamond in my backyard. It's been there all the time, I just didn't know it. I loved this book.

Crave follows Layla's journey through the aftermath of losing her fianc� three weeks before she was supposed to be married. Held captive by memories and guilt, Layla craves finding release in the taboo world of an underground sex club. For the last year and a half, Layla has used meaningless sex with strangers as a way to avoid the feelings she has in regards to life without her fianc�. One night at the club she meets Michael who blows right through all the the walls, rules, and defenses she has set up to guard her heart from forming attachments.

This was an emotional journey of heartbreak and redemption. It had all the feels.There was so many gut-wrenchinly moving scenes that I could feel my stomach rise and fall right along with Layla. I was frustrated with Layla at the beginning. I just wanted to her let Michael help her but I did understand her hesitation once all the facts of her finace's death were revealed. The writing was flawless and perfectly paced so that I felt like I was going through this journey right along with Layla. Layla's emotions were my emotions. As much as she craved bring numb, I craved peace. Then she found Michael.

Michael was perfect. Literally perfect. He knew what he wanted: Layla. He did everything for her benefit. He knew what she needed and how to give it to her. When she struggled, he led her to making the right choices. Michael loved Layla wholly: everything about her including her past. It was so refreshing to have a flipped script in which the hero wasn't broken and did everything he could to help the heroine move on.

The second book in the Undone series will follow Michael's partner Leo and Michael's sister Jillian. In Crave these two are already married so it will be fun to see how they ended up in their happily ever after. Hopefully we'll get more Michael and Layla too. I can't wait.

Intense and emotional!

THIS.BOOK. *fans self*

Crave, is a book I like to consider a rare find. It's not one that I would have easily stumbled upon, but I am so glad I did. There is so much Crave has to offer, and not the intense sexual tension and eventually, hot scenes. This book is about guilt, grief and moving on. Discovering yourself and living your life, second chances.. And, love.

Since losing her fiance weeks before their wedding, Layla has been barely living. She has pushed everyone out of her life - including her family - and visits a popular underground club for her own punishment and desires. That is, until Michael.

Let's talk about Layla. She is swimming in guilt and grief. Not only for the loss of her fiance, but the loss of herself. There was a lot more depth to her pain than we are initially introduced to and the build up of her character and growth was just one of the beautiful things about Crave. There was a lot she had to overcome - but before she could do that, she had to open up to it. Part of this, I do believe was due to the lifestyle that her and John lived, but not all of it.

Michael, is one of those extremely arrogant characters you want to punch in the face at times. But what some might find offensive, sparks something in Layla. Although he IS arrogant; he is also kind, sweet and actually willing to help Layla overcome her pain and help her live again. I also appreciate that Michael wanted to know more about John, because he was such a huge part of Layla and her life before him. He wasn't jealous, but understanding, and accepted who John was. He has a soft side that is displayed in a different way, and I loved every bit about their romance.

Their relationship, physical aspects a side, is a low build up of trust and love. It's quite obvious from their first encounter that the sexual attraction is there (hello, intense & hot tension) but as I mentioned before; Layla had a lot to overcome. Michael held a lot of himself back too, to show Layla that she COULD trust him. Their life style isn't hard-core BDSM, but there are some aspects that are there. Layla likes the domination but it isn't wholly submissive. She is spunky, fierce and loves a good challenge.

I also quite loved the secondary characters. Layla's best friend, her sister and Michael's family too. Although there are not many scenes, it was enough to show us the deep love of family and friendship.

Overall - I loved Crave. It's intense, emotionally sweet and hot as hell. I highly recommend it!

Oh Geez! Where do I start! Layla had the perfect life. Great friends, good job, the love of her life. Then one night just before her wedding, her prince is killed. She was there. She saw the brutality. She survived. Fast forward 18 months. Layla is breathing but she is dead inside. She is living her life stuck in the rut of grief. Her only respite-going to the sex club for a "hit" of what she craves. She feels it's not right. She feels like she is betraying her fianc�. She's so lonely. But in order to get to the next day, she's gotta do what she's gotta do.

One night when the craving is too strong, she goes to the club. Scoping for her next hit, she meets Michael. Talk about instant chemistry. Both feel the other is wrong for them but the magnet pulling them together is very strong. They connect on a level Layla hasn't had in so long. Going against what she tries to tell herself, she meets up with Michael and goes to dinner. He knows she's broken and should stay away, but he can't either.

They embark on a journey of healing after loss, dealing with grief, and rebuilding from your own ashes. Michael is very patient and endearing. He is an alpha-male in all aspects. Layla is trying so hard to resist, but at the same time doesn't want to. She's dealing with so much guilt and now she feels betrayal. She's terrified that she's loving what is growing between the two. She shouldn't forget her fianc�. She's struggling and Michael is so perceptive. He helps her to understand that it's ok to always love her fianc�, but she may have room for him too.

I liked the book, and I know that everybody has their own schedule for healing, but this I felt was a little too drawn out. I was like, c'mon already lets get her healed so we can move onto the HEA! But as much as I wanted to push it along, I understood why Layla needs the time. The pain and guilt needs to be dealt with. Those are not small feats. It's the little things that get you through from day to day. Just get yourself through this one thing. Then this one day...

Jennifer Dawson crafted a story which sinks its hooks right into your heart. You feel for Layla. I felt her demons she was trying to slay everyday. I understand her reluctance to let Michael in. You have a strong book when you just "get" the characters and feel for them. I loved Layla's eventual emergence from the darkness she was cloaked in. I loved how Michael seemed to just know what she needed in all cases. It was a slow evolution, but so well written!

The blurb is misleading somewhat. It makes you think that its a BDSM type sex craving book. But it is much more. There is no BDSM scenes and no protocols that go with that. Crave is about finding how to live again after tragedy hits. Its about finding yourself again and living in the aftermath. It's about rebirth and finding happiness. I am very happy I read it!

The history and practice of traditional healing arts used by various Native American tribes, aptly set in a cultural framework that provides a fuller understanding of how such customs arose. Kavasch, an herbalist and ethnobotanist (Native Harvests: Recipes and Botanicals of the American Indian, 1979) and health writer Baar are convinced that the healing rituals and native medicinal plants described here are an untapped reservoir of help . Kavasch explains that Native American healing is focused on both spiritual and physical health, and is based on a connection with community and with the earth. Much of the tradition is organized around the cycles of life; thus the authors arrange their information by ``Birth and Infancy,'' ``Childhood,'' ``Puberty,'' ``Adolescence,'' ``Adulthood,'' ``Old Age,'' and ``Death, the Afterlife, and the Spirit World.'' A final chapter, ``An American Indian Medicine Chest,'' (``gifts from Mother Earth'') details recipes for the remedies discussed. The material, drawn from practices of many tribes, is intriguing and instinctively appealing: ``During old age, medications, illnesses, and other conditions can affect the senses of smell and taste . . . I've always had the fantasy of becoming an apprentice to a gifted Native American medicine woman--that is until reading "American Indian Healing Arts" by E. Barrie Kavasch and Karen Baar, when my fantasy became a reality. This book is rich with history, accurate herbal information, great medicinal recipes presented in an easy to follow format. "American Indian Healing Arts" is wonderfully reflective of Native American spiritual practices especially in its attention to rites of passage and stages of life. The tender manner with which the information is presented is welcoming, encouraging, inclusive and heartwarming--bound to lead many an apprentice down the path of pursuing greater understanding of Native American medicine.

I find this book very interesting most especially that I've always had a hectic schedule and learning the basics on how to preserve food would be really helpful for me.

I've always thought that food preparation takes a lot of time but after reading this book, I learned that preserving and storing food would actually save you time! It has a lot of benefits as well especially if you are on a tight budget, or if you want to live a healthier lifestyle.

I would love to try doing these simple methods so I can save more and become more healthy!

I thought get that I would try out my kindle by downloading this book. Knowing some about canning, I figured this would be a good book to use as a refresher. That's exactly what it was a simple refresher. I didn't learn anything new, however if you know nothing whatsoever about canning then this book would be okay to start with.
